Finally, some cool weather! Farmer Bryan is busy building new beds for all the hundreds of baby plants ready to go in the ground. The seedlings planted a few weeks ago survived the last of summer’s heat and are doing well and all the mature plants are finally recovering and producing well. We’re not sure the tomatoes will have time to ripen, but hopefully we’ll get some green ones! The winter squash was pretty much a wash, thanks to squash bugs and vine borers. But the melons are tasty! Look forward to at least one in your share today. The share has been fairly monotonous these last few weeks, we’re all looking forward to winter’s abundance. Cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, spinach, beets, turnips. Yum!
Farmer Cindy and the farm crew (Megan, Andreza and the rest) have been planning the Fall Hootenanny, a Farm to table event and more! Save the dates: October 3rd and 30th. Plus we’re trying to find strawberries to plant and purchase chicks for on more round of broilers before it gets too cold. Let us know how many to reserve for you!
